Judith Simon Prager, PhD, is
- co-author, with Judith Acosta, LCSW, of the book, The Worst Is Over: What To Say When Every Moment Counts, which has been called “The ‘bible’ for crisis communication” by The International Journal of Emergency Mental Health
- co-author of Verbal First Aid: Help Your Kids Heal From Fear and Pain--And Come Out Strong (2010), which Bruce Lipton, PhD called "A profound prescription for nurturing our children to the healthiest levels possible!"
- And about her book for children, Owie-Cadabra's Verbal First Aid for Kids: A Somewhat Magical Way to Help Heal Yourself and Your Friends, Dr. Susan Clark of Children's Hopsital of Orange County said, "When children learn this language of healing for themselves there is an opportunity for a generation to grow up more emotionally and physically healthy than occurs now, and who knows how much this might change our world!"
A clinical hypnotherapist with a PhD in psychology, she has taught Verbal First Aid ™, the protocol of the books, at universities and medical centers across the country and in England, in China after their devastating earthquake in 2008, and at New York University Medical Center immediately after September 11th.
She is a consultant to hospitals including Children’s Hospital of Orange County and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she created a successful series of pre-intra-and-post operative CDs, “Guided Imagery for Surgery,” for a pilot study for the cardiothoracic surgery unit.
Her other books and CDs include Journey to Alternity: Transformational Healing Through Stories and Metaphors; Guided Imagery for Chemotherapy; and Bonding With the Baby Within, which features one aspect of her most recent work in the prenatal field.. She has a Masters degree in language and literature; and is the author of novels, TV dramas (“General Hospital”), magazine columns, and is former Creative Director of advertising agencies in New York and California.
She was named “Outstanding Instructor for 2004” in the Extension Writers’ Program of the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), the largest program of its kind in the country.
