This is scary. High fructose corn syrup is a highly refined product associated with obesity for starters. There is more than one commercial, but just look at the message it is giving. And the color of that "juice" is incredible. Tell me what you think about this...

Um.....that is pretty scary. Are they calling us dumb, or conformists, or brain-washed?

I like ad #2. (Although, they're all pretty insulting.) Because it says it's fine in moderation. Define "moderation". It's in EVERYTHING!

WOW. I've heard of the ads but hadn't seen any of them. That is horrifying!

Bethany, you nailed it.

Yikes!

I have been trying quite diligently to get HFCS out of our diet (which is fairly mainstream) and it is soooooo difficult. It is in so many "healthy" products - Yoplait lofat yogurt, Newmans all natural Lemonade, and almost every whole wheat bread in the supermarket, except for a few of the Pepperidge Farm lines.

What I've heard from Dr Oz and others is that it suppresses the production of an enzyme called leptin, and that is the enzyme that tells the brain that the stomach is full. On average, you consume an extra 140 calories before you realize that you're full. Can you imagine that people eating lofat yogurt want an extra 140 calories?

Drives me nuts! :dizzy
