What fun things are you going to do on Mother's Day? Maybe we'll be inspired with some new ideas to connect on this very special day.

My 9 year old has really started enjoying cooking, so he is going to be cooking me a lovely dinner at home with the assistance of my dh. Not sure what else we're going to do just yet, but maybe I'll get some good ideas here!

My Mother's Day will be a bit different this year. For the first year, in many many years, there will be no children at home.

My boys are adults living in 2 different, far-away states. They will likely call :) My 19 yr old leaves early that AM for her college travel study trip to Ireland (she is full Irish on her dad's side-named Pegeen, Gaelic for Margaret). She'll be gone 2 weeks. Boy, is she excited! And I am so proud of her that she is ready for this much independence!

My oldest daughter died many many yeas ago, and I always think of her on this day, as I am still her mom.

Right now, I have no foster or fost/adopt kids. First Mother's Day in 3 years.

So, I am going to wave good-bye to my world traveler, go home and spend a while with my mixed feelings about the children no longer with me, and then I am planning to take care of myself!

Read a good book; play with my dogs; paint my toenails! I'm going to celebrate that the grown and close-to-grown kids are doing well, and that I am on a healing and exciting path toward more foster kids, and that I have always done the best I could with what I had, and now that I know better, I do better.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you; no matter how your children came to you, you are blessed to be their mom, and they are blessed to be your kids.

Did you find something fun to do to connect with your family? Did you opt for some alone time, either by choice or because of life's circumstances? How was your day? I hope that you were able to take some time for yourself and relax at least a little bit.

And Karen, were you able to do what you'd planned? Did you get your toenails painted and manage to read something? I know there are many moms out there who can only dream of such things right now, so it is nice to hear about those of us who were able to connect with our own needs for a little while.

Share your day with us!
