Conscious Pregnancy

Stress affects the developing baby, and can affect the baby’s ability to calm or be soothed after birth. This includes stress from work, stress from marriage or partner, and stress about the pregnancy itself. Connect with your baby daily and do something soothing with your baby, such as reading a story that makes you smile, humming a favorite tune, or taking a walk in nature. The most important thing is that YOU enjoy doing it. This is what your baby will feel.
If you are experiencing lots of stress during your pregnancy, do what you can do decrease it. Your baby is worth it! It does make a difference! Small changes now can have a huge impact because the nervous system is forming now. Talk to your baby about the stress and let him/her know that it isn’t about him and that you’re going to do your best to keep things calm. Self-care for moms is a big part of this. Partners can make sure that mom is taking good care of herself and taking lots of time to be pampered and to relax. It is hard work growing a baby and this isn’t honored as much as it needs to be in our society.
