What are teleparenting classes?
Teleparenting classes are classes you can take from the comfort of your own home. Using a conference line, participants join the call at the designated time using the phone number given when you signed up. (Long distance charges may apply.) You also have access to a private forum area for more in-depth discussions about the material covered during the class. We are also excited to let you know that our classes will now contain a web-based component. You will be able to view videos, our powerpoint slide show, and even see your instructors on a webcam! Our classes are being upgraded to create an even better learning environment for you to learn the material in a more in-depth and personal way.
Why take a teleparenting class?
Teleparenting classes provide an opportunity to learn information from the comfort of your own home. No more packing everyone into the car. Many families find that it is much easier to participate in a phone call, staying in their own home, than it is to get everyone out of the house and into a strange environment. It means you get to spend more time with your family and our instructors get to spend more with theirs! You also have access to a private forum with only your classmates to discuss the material and help you to apply what you’ve learned to your unique family situation. With our added web component, you'll be able to see visuals that will further increase your understanding, including powerpoint slides and videos. All the best features of taking an in-person class without leaving home!
How long do classes last?
Class sessions are generally 90-minutes. The number of weeks vary depending upon the particular class.
What are the fees associated with the classes?
Classes range from $15-$25 per class. Some classes require or recommend that you read the books associated with them. If you do not have free long distance on your phone, you will be charged your normal rates for a long distance call by your long distance carrier for the conference call.
Who teaches the classes?
Adoption/Trauma classes are currently being taught by Wilma Vance, Rebecca Thompson, and Bethany Griffin. Sally Flintoff teaches classes in Australia.
Connection Parenting classes are taught by Rebecca Thompson, as Pam Leo is currently ill and unable to work. Joanne Foster teaches classes in Australia.
Nonviolent Communicated-based Classes are taught by Stephanie Bachmann Mattei. Jo Field teaches classes in Australia.
How do I sign up?
Each class page has a registration box with dates and times when registration is open. If you do not see a registration box on the page of the class you would like to take, sign up for notification so you'll know as soon as that class is scheduled again.
