I recently attended and completed the Beyond Consequences course presented by Ms Sally Flintoff and found the course to be extremely beneficial.

I have attended many parenting courses and read extensively but often did not follow through with the strategies suggested because they went against what my instincts were telling me.

I have just completed A Different View and though I understood the principles behind Beyond Love Consequences and Control and had started to implement some of the ways we were parenting, I can say now after five weeks the concepts are cemented in my consciousness, just have to keep it all going in daily life, this is the hard part as life overtakes our days at times. Sally's' passion and example, accompanied by the wonderful resources Heather Forbes provides through Beyond Consequences Love and Control (BCLC) gives us the permission to feel fully.

This is often confronting as our emotions are not always aligned with our rationale but only through feeling our own vulnerabilities can we see through the eyes of our children and it is often daunting. It is not a one week course, you need to do the whole course to fully integrate the whole paradigm which is looking beyond the behaviour and walking beside our children. The neuroscience research is compelling and thought provoking. At its heart it is not just about parenting but relationships and becoming aware of our own and others expectations that may trigger our own behaviour that is not always in ours or our child's best interest. We are so grateful for you and for the course we’ve just finished and we’re so looking forward to our family moving closer and closer to each other through our unconditional love for each other. We are already seeing the shoots of the fruit! It is a truly beautiful thing!

At the beginning of the year I was so desperate. I felt like everything about was so out of control. I got to the point where I felt like the only thing I could was take control of was my own life. I decided that my pursuit for this year was going to be to find joy. I’ve done so much soul searching and realized that I won’t have joy in my life until I deal with some of the deeply buried hurts and pains and trauma in my life. I kind of had a sense they were there but didn’t know what they were or how to deal with them.

I don’t think it was an accident that in my pursuit for joy we came across this course. We thought that it was going to help us in parenting our son, and yes, that’s the ultimate result we’ll get to but it has taught us so much more about ourselves. The sessions have helped me to see and feel some of my pain and trauma but mostly I feel like I have a pathway now to be able to access it and truly deal with it. That pathway will always be there if I allow it to be so it will be an asset and a tool for a lifetime. I will find the joy in my life, in living with and loving my husband and son and myself.

In May 2009 I participated in a 6 week parenting telecourse run by Sally Flintoff called A Different View . During the course we were taken through in some detail, and given insights into, the foundations of the Beyond Consequences Logic & Control paradigm. One of the strongest aspects of this course was Sally's generosity in sharing her own experiences in being able to implement this paradigm. This enabled me to comprehend in more detail not only the overall concept but also the detail of enacting such an approach within a more presonal context. I found sally to be empathetic, perceptive, open, able to transfer general principles to specific scenarios, and generally a warm & committed person & a great BCLC advocate. For those already trying to implement the BCLC paradigm within their family I highly recommend undertaking such a course with Sally.
